God is like Waze

This Sunday I got to chat with some beautiful young Ladies. They are so gifted and passionate about God. All they want is to fulfill God’s plan for their lives & they will.

When I was in my 20’s I wish I knew this one thing.

You can’t mess up the plan that God has for your life. (Well, if you really want to you can. But I mean for those who desire & seek to follow God.) I used to be so concerned about messing everything up… “what if I miss an opportunity, what if I do the wrong thing, make the wrong move. What if I choose the wrong major, take the wrong job, make the wrong decision!” I learned that man plans and God directs. As you walk out your plans, God will direct you as you go.

In college, I majored in Graphic Design & Art Education (shout out to all my creatives!) but I got my degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences, got my first job in HR, started a career in real estate, then became a church planter & pastor.  If you would have asked me in my early 20’s what I would be doing for the rest of my life, I would not have said living in Florida & pastoring… never in a million years!

But somehow God took all of my successes & mistakes, all of my right turns & left turns, all of my smart days & dumb days and he used them to get me to where I am today. God is not watching your every move with a ruler ready to smack you when you mess up. He’s more like GPS/Waze/Google maps. Yes, he’s constantly tracking you but he will also reroute you when you make a wrong turn. If you start going in the wrong direction, God knows how to turn you back around.

As you plan your future, don’t be afraid. be confident that God is directing your path. He says the plans I have for you are good, to bring you to an expected end.

Keep your eyes open, your ears attentive & your heart receptive to God. He will be with you every step of the way.
